Young sets Jennies career assists record

in win over Central Methodist

It was fitting that on Senior Night, Central Missouri State University senior setter Kaci Young would claim the Jennies career record for assists. Young’s 37 assists in the Jennies’ 3-0 nonconference win over Central Methodist University put her career total at 5,477. That breaks the mark of 5,460 established by Susan Dixon from 1984-87.

Central Missouri (23-8) looked like it might be in for a dog-fight in the beginning. Central Methodist (12-12) took a 6-2 lead early in game one before the Jennies woke up. CMSU went on a 6-2 run of its own to tie the game and then battled for the 30-23 win. Games two and three weren’t as close, as the Jennies won 30-16 and 30-20.

For the night Central Missouri State had 49 kills to just 33 for Central Methodist. The Jennies also had five block solos and 10 block assists vs. 12 block assists for the Lady Eagles and had a 5-to-2 advantage in service aces.Andrea Robertson led all hitters with 14 kills. She also had 17.5 points. Senior Becky Haug added 13 kills, four block solos, two block assists, and a match-high 18 points for the Jennies.
