Jennies take care of Griffons
The Central Missouri Jennies cruised in the first two games against Missouri Western in MIAA volleyball action Wednesday night before coming from behind in the third game for a 3-0 win.
CMSU (13-2, 2-0 MIAA) ran away with the first game, 30-19, holding the Griffons to a negative hitting percentage (-.070). The next game was more of the same as the Jens hit .350 and rolled to a 30-21 win. The third outing was a whole new ballgame though. There were 21 ties and 18 lead changes before Central Missouri came back from a 26-28 deficit to steal game three 30-28.
CMSU, ranked No. 9 in the latest AVCA poll, was led on offense by Jillian Ohrman with a .556 hitting percentage and 10 kills. Brooke Butler added 12 kills while Andrea Robertson chipped in with 10. Setters Ashlei Jandrey and Caitlin Pankratz had 22 and 20 assists, respectively. The defense was led by three Jennies in double figures. Katie Tarka had 15 digs, Audrey Jensen posted 12, and Jandrey capped off a double-double with 10.
