Jennies knock off Lady Blues, 3-1

In a battle of top 25 teams, the 11th ranked Central Missouri Jennies knocked off the 10th ranked Lady Blues of Washburn, 3-1, to keep within striking distance of the MIAA title hunt.
UCM (19-3, 7-1 MIAA) never trailed in a game one but had to hold on for a 30-28 win. They rolled in the second stanza, 30-21, but Washburn (17-4, 5-2 MIAA) fought back for a 30-28 game three victory. The Lady Blues were down 25-28 and rallied for five consecutive points to keep the match alive. Central Missouri controlled the final game throughout though, and garnered a 30-23 clincher.
The Jennies were led by four players with double-figure kills on the night. Brooke Butler led the way with 18 while reining MIAA Hitter of the Week, Andrea Robertson, had 15. Jillian Ohrman added 14 and hit a match-high .367 while Lauren Nuckolls put up 10 on the night. Ashlei Jandrey set the attack with a career-high 41 assists while Katie Tarka was her normal self on defense with 35 digs.
The win was the first over Washburn since 2004 and it kept the Jennies one game back of Truman for the conference crown. Truman will play in Warrensburg on October 25 for the Jens last regular season home game.
