Jennies volleyball signs three

               The University of Central Missouri volleyball squad and head coach Peggy Martin have announced the signing of three high school standouts to join the team in 2007.
            Rachel Fister, Paula Harris, and Jenica Shippy will wear the Cardinal & Black next season for the storied Jennies program that made its fifth consecutive appearance in the NCAA regional title match and 24th straight NCAA tournament appearance.
           
Following is a list of the 2007 class:

Rachel Fister
Outside Hitter/Defensive Specialist * 5-8
Washington, Mo. / St. Francis Borgia High School
A first-team all-state and all-region pick for head coach Mike Tyree, Fister led St. Francis Borgia High School to four district titles… as a sophomore, she helped the squad to a state title while taking a runner-up finish as a junior in 2005… She lettered all four years and as a sophomore was listed by Prep Volleyball as a Fab 50 player… in 2006 she was named to the USAV National All-Tournament Team.

Paula Harris
Middle Hitter * 6-1
Conway Springs, Kan. / Conway Springs High School
A four-time all-league pick for head coach Dave Gardner at Conway Springs High School… Harris earned first-team all-state honors twice and was named the player of the year as a junior… she was named to the all-tournament team in each of the last three years at both the Douglass and Mulvane tournaments… as a freshman, her team finished 4th in the state, runner-up in 2004, and champions in 2005… she also competed in basketball and track.

Jenica Shippy
Outside Hitter * 5-11
Pueblo
West, Colo. / Pueblo West High School

Another four-time letterman and all-conference pick, Shippy played for head coach Casey King at Pueblo West High School… She was also a three-time selection to the all-state squad and helped her squad to three consecutive league titles and a couple district championships… as a senior, she helped the team qualify for state and she also played in the Colorado All-State Games… Shippy has established herself as a standout beach volleyball player as well, finishing first in the Vail King of the Mountain, fifth at the Junior Olympics of Beach Volleyball and as the event champion at the Colorado State Championships… also lettered for the tennis squad three times.
