Jennies split in Alabama
(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) – The Jennies volleyball squad went 1-1 this weekend on their trip to Alabama, falling on Friday to 16th ranked North Alabama 3-0 and dropping Alabama-Huntsville by a 3-0 margin on Saturday. The two matches were the last of the regular season as the Jens get set for the MIAA Tournament.
Friday night was as hard fought a three-game match as you see in volleyball as the Lions took game one 38-36 and game two by a 31-29 margin. They rolled in the final set by grabbing a 30-17 win however. Jillian Ohrman led the way for the Jennies (26-5, 11-2 MIAA) offense with 16 kills and a .361 hitting percentage while Katie Tarka paced the defense with 26 digs in the match.
The Jennies hit only .130 while North Alabama tallied 12 more kills on the night and hit .207.
The next day, UCM took out UAH by 30-26, 30-19, 30-28 gaps to get win number 26 on the season and snap the two-game skid. Freshman Lauren Nuckolls led the way with 12 kills on only 20 attacks (.400) while Caitlin Pankratz dished out 25 assists on the day.
Central Missouri out-hit Alabama-Huntsville .204-to-.160 and had 51 kills compared to only 43 for the home team.
