Jens knock off another ranked foe

In a battle of top 20 teams, the 11th ranked University of Central Missouri Jennies were too much for the 16th ranked Hawks of Rockhurst. UCM is off to its best start since 1998 with a 22-3 overall mark (9-1 in MIAA play).
Central Missouri battled in a first game that saw 16 ties and nine lead changes to take a 30-28 decision. The second game was all Jennies as they rolled to a 30-23 win. Rockhurst showed what they were made of in game four, dominating from start to finish. They grabbed a 10 point advantage early and coasted to a 30-21 mark. UCM came back from its break in the last game to take an easy 30-18 match clincher.
The Jennies were led by Brooke Butler with a career-high 24 kills while both setters (Ashlei Jandrey and Caitlin Pankratz) had 32 assists and double figure digs. Katie Tarka led the way in digs with 35 while Lauren Nuckolls tallied a double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs.
The Jennies have won seven matches in a row including four in the last six days. Tonight’s win was the second over a ranked team in the last week (Washburn was the other).
