Jennies hand SIU-Edwardsville first loss of 2006
The Central Missouri State Jennies grabbed a big road win on Tuesday night and handed Southern Illinois-Edwardsville its first loss of 2006, 3-2 (30-28, 30-25, 28-30, 18-30, 15-13).
The Jennies (4-1), ranked 10th in the nation, burst out to a two-game lead before the Cougars (4-1) scrapped back in game three and dominated in game four. Central Missouri held on in the deciding stanza to post its first road win of the season. SIUE led in nearly every statistical category, fortunately for the Jennies, one of those was errors. 35 attack errors, along with 15 other various errors in the match seemed to be the difference in the five games.
CMSU was led by junior middle hitter Jillian Ohrman with 20 kills (.347) while Andrea Robertson got her first action of the year with 12 on the night. Setter Caitlin Pankratz led the way in assists with a career-high 54 to go along with 12 digs. Five Jennies were in double-figures for digs, led by senior libero Katie Tarka with 31.
