Jennies coast in MIAA first round
The University of Central Missouri Jennies got back on track with a 3-0 basting of the Missouri Southern Lions in the first round of the MIAA Tournament on Tuesday night in Warrensburg.
UCM (27-5), ranked No. 15 in the nation, was the second seed in the east division and hosted the Lions, who were seeded third in the west. The match was never in doubt as the Jens took out MSSU 30-24, 30-19, 30-27. The third game was the only close one as it was tied at 27 before UCM grabbed the final three points.
Jillian Ohrman had 12 kills and hit .393 while freshman Lauren Nuckolls led all attackers with 13 kills and an impressive .429 hitting percentage. Audrey Jensen led the defense with 23 digs while Katie Tarka chipped in with 15. The UCM defense didn’t allow any Lion to get in double-figure kills, pulling up 86 digs. Caitlin Pankratz set the attack on her own tonight with 45 assists.
