Peggy Martin Named 2007 Recipient of the
National Girls and Women in Sport
Alumni Achievement Award

 
(Bloomington, Ind.)- Peggy Martin, former three-sport student athlete at
Indiana University and current head volleyball coach at the
University of Central Missouri has been named the 2007 recipient of the National Girls
and Women in Sport (NGWS) HPER Alumni Achievement Award.
Martin notched her 1,000 career victory last year, making her the
all-time winningest active volleyball coach at the NCAA Division II
level.
A 1972 graduate of HPER, the School of Health, Physical Education, and
Recreation at Indiana University, Martin captained the IU women's
basketball team to three straight AIAWT Tournament berths in addition to
earning four letters in softball and three in field hockey. She
completed her doctorate in physical education at the School of HPER in
1980.
Martin will be honored during half time of the IU Women's Basketball
game on Sunday, February 18th.
Past winners of the NGWS HPER Alumni Achievement Award are Mildred Ball,
former assistant commissioner of the Indiana High School Athletic
Association and Buffy Filippell, founder of TeamWork Consulting, an
executive search firm for the sports and event management industry and
TeamWork Online, the first online employment recruiting tool for sports
teams and leagues.
