Jennies Make Home Debut This Weekend

Warrensburg, Mo. (Sept. 5, 2000) -- For the first time this volleyball season, the Central Missouri State University Jennies will play on their home court. Four other schools, Arkansas Tech University, Henderson State University, Quincy University and Rockhurst University, will join the Jennies for the CMSU Invitational this weekend (Sept. 8-9) at the CMSU Multipurpose Building.

Friday's schedule will have Henderson State meeting Quincy at 3 p.m. and Rockhurst at 5 p.m., followed by 7 p.m. matches that will send the Jennies against Arkansas Tech and Quincy against Rockhurst. Saturday's schedule begins at 11 a.m. with the Jennies meeting Henderson State and Quincy playing Arkansas Tech. The final matches at 1 p.m. will have the Jennies taking on Quincy and Rockhurst facing Arkansas Tech. The Jennies and Rockhurst will not play each other this weekend, but will meet Oct. 31 in Warrensburg.

Coach Peggy Martin's Jennies are 6-2 and ranked 16th in the NCAA Division II this week after splitting four matches and placing sixth at the 12-team Colorado Premier Challenge in Denver last weekend. Arkansas Tech is 7-1, Henderson State is 4-5 and Quincy is 5-3, while Rockhurst is 4-1 and ranked 22nd.

At last weekend's Colorado Premier Challenge, the Jennies lost to Barry University 3-1 and beat the University of Southern Colorado 3-1 in pool-play Friday, then beat co-host Regis University 3-0 and lost to the University of Northern Colorado 3-0 in Saturday's competition. Junior Janell Mohme was CMSU's lone representative on the all-tournament team, as she recorded a team-high 55 kills in the four matches.
