| Twenty-Five-Year Celebration of Jennies Volleyball Upcoming Warrensburg,
Mo. (Sept. 28, 2000) - Central Missouri State University fans will have a chance
to be part of the celebration of 25 years of Jennies' volleyball under coach Peggy Martin
next month. The activities are scheduled for the weekend of Oct. 13-14.
The Jennies have a Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association match against
Missouri Southern State College at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 13, at the CMSU Multipurpose
Building. A social in the Multipurpose Building Alumni Room will follow the match.
On Saturday, Oct. 14, there will be an exhibition match between teams of former
Jennies' players at 11 a.m. in the Multipurpose Building. Following that match there will
be a luncheon at 1 p.m. in the Kitterman Room of the Elliott University Union. The
luncheon also will feature a "roast" of Martin.
Martin, in her 25th season as the Jennies' head coach, is the winningest volleyball
coach in NCAA Division II and last season became the first coach in Division II to achieve
800 career wins. Her teams have won 18 MIAA championships in a row and received 17
consecutive NCAA tournament bids. Her first season at Central Missouri was 1975 and the
Jennies have never had a losing season.
In conjunction with the 25th-year celebration, Martin has selected the top Jennies'
players of her 25-year career, many of whom will be attending the Oct. 13-14 events. The
list includes all 19 former Jennies' players who have earned All-America honors at Central
Missouri.
