| Two Winningest Coaches at CMSU This Weekend Warrensburg,
Mo. (Oct. 3, 2000) -- Central Missouri State University volleyball fans will see
a matchup of the two winningest active volleyball coaches in NCAA Division II history at
the CMSU Challenge Friday when the Jennies take on Florida Southern College at 7:30 p.m.
at the CMSU Multipurpose Building.
Jennies' coach Peggy Martin, in her 25th season, leads Division II with 831 career
wins. Florida Southern coach Lois Webb, in her 24th campaign, is second in Division II
with 732 career victories.
The Jennies' match with Florida Southern will be one of three for them in the CMSU
Challenge, which will follow Wednesday's Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association
7 p.m. home encounter against Pittsburg State University. Friday at 5 p.m. the Jennies
will take on the University of Alabama-Huntsville, then Saturday at 11 a.m. the Jennies
will meet Drury University (see complete schedule below).
The Jennies (16-2, 7-0 MIAA and ranked 17th in Division II last week) will reach the
halfway point in the conference race with Wednesday's contest against Pittsburg State
(4-17, 0-7 MIAA). The Jennies are an amazing 68-2 in league matches dating back through
the 1996 season.
The Jennies have a 15-match win streak at home currently. Their last home loss was to
NAIA powerhouse Columbia College in 1998. Their current MIAA home-match win streak stands
at 28 and dates back to 1996, when Washburn University handed them their only conference
loss of the season in five games.
Friday's meeting with Florida Southern will be the seventh between the two highly
successful programs, with the Jennies leading the series 4-2. This will be their first
meeting since 1996 and the first time the two teams have met on CMSU's home court.
