Jennies Regional Matches on Radio

Warrensburg, Mo. (Nov. 15, 2000) -- Central Missouri State University Athletics Director Jerry Hughes has announced that the Jennies' volleyball matches in this weekend's NCAA Division II South Central Regional in Florence, Ala., will be broadcast on radio.

KLRQ-FM (96.1) in Clinton, Mo., which is Central Missouri State's exclusive radio outlet for athletics, will carry the matches live. CMSU's Director of Athletics Broadcasting Shawn Jones will provide the play-by-play.

The Jennies' first match will be Friday at 3 p.m. against the winner of Thursday's Truman State University-Missouri Western State College contest. If the Jennies win Friday, they will play in the regional championship match Saturday at 2 p.m.

"The ability to do this is what I envisioned when we made our original arrangement with KLRQ two years ago," Hughes said. "When some of our teams reach NCAA competition, we want to be able to broadcast their contests, even though we may not be able to carry them during the regular season."

In addition to being available on KLRQ's 100,000-watt on-air signal, the Jennies' matches also will be carried on the Internet at www.klrq.com.

KLRQ will not only carry this weekend's Jennies' volleyball matches, but also will have the live broadcasts of Jennies and Mules basketball Friday and Saturday at the CMSU Multipurpose Building. The Jennies open their season Friday at 7:30 p.m. against Lincoln University in their own University Inn Jennies Classic. They will play at either 3:30 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. Saturday, with the Mules opening their season Saturday at 7:30 p.m. against Monmouth College of Illinois.
