Jennies Sign Fifth Recruit for 2001

Warrensburg, Mo. (Apr. 17, 2001) -- Central Missouri State University volleyball coach Peggy Martin has announced the signing of her fifth recruit to a National Letter of Intent for next season.

The latest to join the highly successful Jennies' program is 5' 9" outside hitter Michelle Uchtman (pronounced OOCH'-man) from Marshfield (Mo.) High School. She was a Class 3A all-state selection and helped lead Marshfield to a district championship last fall.

Also joining the Jennies for next season is 5' 10" outside hitter Carrie Potthast (pronounced POT'-ast), a transfer from NCAA Division I Murray State University. She led Murray State in kills (335) last season as a freshman and is a graduate of Breese (Ill.) Central High School.

Previously, Martin had announced the signing of 5' 11" middle-outside hitter April Decker from Owensville (Mo.) High School, 5' 10" outside hitter Jennifer Flynn from Festus (Mo.) High School, 6' 2" middle hitter Elyse Mohme (pronounced E-LEESE' MOE'-me) from Waterloo (Ill.) Gibault High School, and 5' 11" middle hitter Kristin Perrin from Warrensburg (Mo.) High School. Those recruits were inked during volleyball's early signing period of Nov. 8-15. Elyse Mohme is the younger sister of current Jennies' player Janell Mohme, who will be a senior next fall.

The Jennies were 26-8 last season, won a share of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association title for the 19th consecutive year and made a Division II-record 18th-straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
