Mindy Sullivan Named CMSU Assistant Volleyball Coach

Warrensburg, Mo. (July 13, 2000) -- Mindy Sullivan, former assistant volleyball coach at Johnson County Community College (Kan.), has joined the Central Missouri State University staff as the first full-time women's volleyball assistant for head coach Peggy Martin. Sullivan has been an assistant at Johnson County for the past three seasons (1998-2000).

Sullivan played college volleyball at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo., where she was team captain and a third-team All-America selection in 1997. She was a first-team all-conference and all-region selection as a junior and a senior for the Lady Hawks.

A native of St. Louis, Mo., Sullivan graduated from Pattonville High School. She received her bachelor's degree in history from Rockhurst in 1998.

Sullivan joins a Jennies' staff that also includes part-time assistant coach Phil "Flip" Piontek. Martin, who leads the NCAA Division II volleyball ranks in career coaching wins with 815, is starting her 25th season as CMSU's head coach. Her teams have won 18 consecutive Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association championships and made 17 straight NCAA tournament appearances.
