Central Missouri State head wrestling coach Robin Ersland announced today that eight student-athletes have signed to compete for the Cardinal & Black in 2006-07.
“I think this is a good class, filling all our needs for next season.” Said Ersland, “We didn’t bring in as many new guys as usual because we were so happy with last year’s recruiting class.”
Following is a list of the 2006-07 class:
Matt Bailes, (157/165). Turner High School, Kansas City, Kan.
3rd in state as a senior, 25-5 record. 3rd in state as a junior, 36-4 record. 2nd in state as a sophomore, 31-9 record. 2nd in state as freshman, 33-11 record. Career record of 125-29. Three time regional champion. Wrestled in 2006 Metro Classic.
Ryan Cobbins, (184/197), Raytown High School, Kansas City, Mo.
4th in state as a senior, 12-2 record.
Drew Dawson, (HWT), Fulton High School, Fulton, Mo.
4th in state as a senior, 35-4 record. 4th in state as a junior, 32-4 record. State qualifier as a sophomore, 35-6 record. Career record of 111-33.
Hunter Madl, (157), Blue Valley High School, Stilwell, Kan.
4th in state as a senior, 41-8 record. 5th in state as a junior, 40-8 record. State qualifier as a freshman, 19-19 record. Career record of 107-40. Two time league champion. Wrestled in 2006 Metro Classic.
Tyler Madl, (149), Blue Valley High School, Stilwell, Kan.
5th in state as a senior, 29-6 record. 3rd in state as a sophomore, 28-13 record. State qualifier as a freshman, 29-20 record. Career record of 111-43. Two time regional and league champion. Victorious in 2006 Metro Classic.
Jon Ott, (197), Blue Springs High School, Blue Springs, Mo.
2nd in state as a senior, 53-4 record. Career record of 121-26. High school coach was former CMSU Coach and wrestler Mike Hagerty.
James Sills, (HWT), Francis Howell North High School, Saint Charles, Mo.
5th in state as a senior, 39-8 record. State qualifier as a junior, 31-17 record. Career record of 77- 44.
Jesse Whitson (149), Meramec Community College, St. Louis, Mo.
National qualifier as a freshman, 13-12 record. Two-time state placer in high school (5th and 6th) in Arizona. Father Paul was former CMSU wrestler for Hall of Fame coach Roger Denker.
