Mules take down Miners

Matt LaGree's three-run homerun capped a big first inning for the Mules
The Central Missouri Mules baseball team used another big first inning to defeat the Missouri S&T Miners on Wednesday night, 10-5.
The Mules (17-9) tallied seven runs in the opening frame to grab a 7-2 lead. Chance Tuttle led it off with a triple to start a string of four consecutive hits. Matt LaGree chased the MST starter with his first home run of the season, driving in three runs.
Freshman Ryan Dawson got the start for UCM and gave up two runs in the first and third innings before allowing one in the fifth. He allowed five hits in five innings while striking out three to get his second win of the season. The bullpen came in to shut the Miners out in the final four frames.
Central Missouri got two insurance runs in the fourth in dramatic fashion, pulling off a triple steal, led by Tuttle’s steal of home. The Mules got the next batter home thanks to an error by MST. UCM also added its final run in the sixth thanks to an RBI single from freshman third baseman Scott Bradbury.
