Mules outslug Rockhurst

John Wegener led the Mules with three hits and four RBI's

The Mules (14-8, 8-6 MIAA) picked up 14-12 win over Rockhurst in a single non-conference game on Wednesday evening at Crane Stadium Tompkins-Field.

Rockhurst (17-9, 4-4 GLVC) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first before the Mules answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning. Rockhurst had 15 hits in the game to the Mules 13 but couldn’t regain the lead, as UCM picked up 10 more runs in the next seven innings.  Rockhurst had six errors in the game, while the Mules had two.

Alex Kent (2-0) got the start and win for Central Missouri as he scattered six hits and five runs over four innings in a predetermined start. Matt Curtis came in the fifth inning and threw two innings, giving up two runs on four hits. Kyle Smith pitched the seventh inning and gave up four runs on two hits. Aaron Brett came into relief in the eighth inning and gave up two hits and one run. Chris Matlock came in for Nick Phillips in the ninth and picked up his second save on the year by retiring all three batters faced.

Jon Wegener led the offensive attack for the Mules as he picked up three hits and drove in four runs. Will Feil had three hits, three stolen bases and scored three times for UCM. Chance Tuttle also picked up three hits and scored three times for the Mules.
