Coach Myers Says: Alex is a versatile pitcher. He has the arm to be a starter or closer. He can pitch effectively in either role. A very valuable part of our staff last year, with his experience he should give us a lot of quality innings and appearances.
As a Sophomore: Made 18 appearances, mostly out of the pen as a closer... ranked second on the team in saves... recorded wins against Cameron (Feb 9), Missouri Western ( Apr 6), and Truman State (Apr 29) in his first ever start... also threw effectivley against No. 2 Sonoma State in the Division II World Series with four scoreless frames.
As a Freshman: Played nearly every position and had a big RBI single to win a game against Northwest Missouri (May 4), going 3-of-5 in that game... had a three-run homer against Missouri Southern (Apr 29)... on the mound, only gave up a hit or run in one of his six outings.
In high school: Kent earned all-conference honors as a junior and senior shortstop at Lee’s Summit North... he also earned all-conference accolades on the mound as well as first team all-district and all-area... as a senior he hit .415 with five home runs, 10 triples, 16 doubles, and 36 RBI... on the mound he logged a 9-1 record with 70 strikeouts and a 2.25 ERA...helped his squad to conference titles in hid final two campaigns... in 2004, 2005, and 2006 he was an American Legion fifth district All-Star Team selection... as a senior he played in the Mo-Kan All-Star Game and the Missouri East vs. West All-Star Game.
