Coach Myers Says: Chris is a returning All-American closer from last season. He is a highly competitive person that enjoys the late inning challenges. He can locate 3 pitches really well, hold runners, and field his position.

As a Junior: A second-team All-American, he was also a first-team All-MIAA and first-team all-region selection as a relief pitcher... the Mules closer, he led the squad in appearances and saves... had a 79-to-13 strikeout-to-walk ratio and earned MIAA Pitcher of the Week honors for his performance in the MIAA Tournament, logging a win and two saves...tied the school record for single season saves and broke the record for appearances ...named Most Valuable Player of the Central Regional and also to the Division II World Series All-Tournament Team... carried a streak of 25 consecutive innings without allowing a run from April 29 through the end of the year... In his last appearance against No. 2 Sonoma State, he tossed 9.1 innings of scoreless relief, striking out 13.

Before UCM: Played at Longview C.C. for head coach Clint Culbertson (former Mules assistant)... helped his squad to back-to-back national titles, earning most valuable pitcher both seasons... He was also second in the nation with 12 saves in 2007... a first-team all-region pick, he also earned NJCAA World Series MVP... Played his high school ball at Glendale in Springfield for head coach Mark Stratton... he earned all district twice and All-Ozarks once, leading the squad to a district title... He was named most valuable pitcher four times as well.

Personal: Finance major ... born July 4, 1986 ... son of Glen and Debby Matlock.
