16 - Danny Potje
Lefthanded Pitcher
6-4 * 190 * B-L - T-L * Junior-2L
Arnold, Mo. * Fox H.S.
* 2008 Second-Team All-MIAA *
* 2008 Second-Team All-Region *
Coach Myers Says: Danny will be a conference starter again this year. He pitched very effectively last season and was getting stronger as the year went on. Danny is a very consistent worker and knowledgeable pitcher. His experience should play a big role in the development of our staff.
As a Sophomore: A second-team All-MIAA and all-region selection... he was the Mules No. 3 starter for most of the season... sat out three weeks in MIAA play due to sickness... ranked second on the team in wins with nine... His best outing of the year came against Shippensburg in the Division II World Series, tossing a complete game and allowing only one run while striking out eight... He also had 10 K’s against Washburn and defeated nationally ranked Emporia State twice.
As a Freshman: Saw most of his action out of the bullpen, logging a save and a couple starts as well.... didn’t allow a run in MIAA play (five appearances) until Truman scored four on him on April 18... also got a save against SBU (Apr 6).
Before UCM: Potje was a first-team all-district and second-team all-conference pick at Fox High School as both a pitcher and outfielder... he also earned all-tournament team honors as a pitcher and outfielder... helped his american legion squad to a district 13 title and made the league all-star team... tacked on a couple letters in basketball.
Personal: Accounting major ... born July 7, 1987 ... son of John and Karen Potje.
