Coach Myers Says: Mark is coming off an outstanding junior year and should again be one of our conference starters. He is a very competitive and driven individual. His energy and charisma are great for our club.

As a Junior: The MIAA and Central Region Pitcher of the Year, he was a second-team All-American... also was a unanimous first-team All-MIAA pick and was named first-team all-region... The Mules No. 1 pitcher most of the season, he led the starters in wins and ERA... Named MIAA Pitcher of the Week on two occasions... best outing came against Pittsburg State on Mar 28, tossing a complete game, three-hit shutout... also tossed 7.1 innings of shutout ball against Missouri Southern (May 3).

As a Sophomore: Saw action only in a relief role, making nine appearances and throwing 11 frames... threw 5.2 innings, allowing two hits against ESU in the MIAA Tournament May 13.

As a Freshman: A solid starter and middle reliever for the Mules, he went 2-0 with a save ... he has struck out four on four occassions, despite pitching no more than three innings at any time during the year ... got his first collegiate win at Southwest Baptist (March 29) in a scheduled three inning start ... got his first college save with a three-inning stint vs. Findlay (March 10), striking out four and allowing four hits in three innings.

In High School: Named the Metro East Baseball Coaches AA Pitcher of the Year as a senior ... he posted a 9-2 record with a 2.20 earned run average in 12 starts while striking out 89 and walking just 16 in 70 innings of work ... for his career, he went 19-8 and was twice named all-conference ... also lettered in golf and basketball

Personal: Physical Education major ... born December 31, 1985 ... son of Steve and June Carey.
