32 - Matt Curtis
Righthanded Pitcher
6-3 * 185 * B-R - T-R * Soph-1L
Ashland, Mo. * Southern Boone County H.S.
Coach Myers Says: Matt has been very good for three semesters now. He was able to throw his change up more consistently this fall and he showed better command of his slider. We see huge upside in him and with the experience he has, and big game starts, he should be an impact pitcher again this spring.
As a Freshman: The Mules No. 4 starter most of the season, he got the win in the MIAA Tourney title game against fourth ranked Emporia State... Best outing came against Washburn in MIAA play, going six innings and allowing only one run on three hits... also tossed a 6-inning shutout in his debut against East Central.
In High School: Lettered four years for head coach Tony Phillips... he earned all-conference and all-district three times while grabbing all-state as a junior and senior, winning the conference title both seasons as well... played in the Missouri class 2A all-star game... also played football, lettering three years and earning all-conference and all-district two times each.
Personal: Physical Education major... born April 3, 1989 ... son of Andy and Brenda Curtis... uncle Roy Merriott pitched for the Mules in 1985.
