Coach Myers Says: Matt is a transfer that should see a lot of time behind the plate. He showed great balance and leverage as a hitter this fall. He has a great eye at the plate and knows how to get on base. He showed very well defensively as well. He has a lot of confidence in how to work with every pitcher and to call a good game for them. He has good arm strength and is a very accurate throwing catcher.
Before UCM: A two-year starter for head coach Kyle Crookes at Hutchinson C.C., he earned honorable mention all-conference as a freshman and second-team as a sophomore, hitting .310... He was also named the West Division Defensive Player of the Year... In high school he was a three-year letterman at Shawnee Mission Northwest, leading his team to a third place finish in the state.
