17 - Nick Phillips
Righthanded Pitcher
6-0 * 185 * B-R - T-R * Junior-1L
Bartlesville, Okla. * Kansas State
Coach Myers Says: Nick was one of our most valuable pitchers a year ago and picked up where he left off this fall. He could see time as a starter, middle reliever, or as a closer. He has the ability to pitch everyday, and gives us a 4-pitch guy that can throw to both sides of the plate, and to both left and right-handed hitters. He will be a go-to guy in any situation.
As a Sophomore: Saw most of his action on the mound as a middle releiver and mid-week starter... came up huge against Nebraska-Omaha in the regional second round, tossing 5.2 innings of relief and allowing only two hits... Had two wins against Nebraska-Omaha, and one against Washburn and Pittsburg State.
Before UCM: Transferred to Central Missouri after lettering one season for Brad Hill at Kansas State... made nine appearances with a 3.24 ERA out of the bullpen... attended high school in Bartlesville for head coach Spence Rigdon... was a three-year lettermen, earning all-conference in both his junior and senior
seasons... also grabbed all-metro honors while helping the squad to a regional title and state tournament appearance.
Personal: Social Studies major ... born January 31, 1988 ... son of Billy and Nina Phillips.
