Before UCM: Led Hutchinson C.C. with a .432 average, 15 home runs, and 65 RBI in 2008 while earning third-team All-American honors... He was also named first-team all-conference and first-team all-region for head coach Kyle Crookes... The Rawlings Big Stick Award winner for the best average in the Central Region, he also stole 23 bases as a sophomore... He attended Conway Springs High School, where they did not have a baseball team... lettered four years in football, winning four consecutive state championships and grabbing all-league honors.
