Coach Myers on Alex Kent: He has the make-up to be an outstanding pitcher… we see Alex as a shut-down reliever and possible starter… he swung the bat well in the fall and we could see him in the lineup with the experience he gained at the plate last season.

As a Freshman: Played nearly every position and had a big RBI single to win a game against Northwest Missouri (May 4), going 3-of-5 in that game... had a three-run homer against Missouri Southern (Apr 29)... on the mound, only gave up a hit or run in one of his six outings.

In high school: Kent earned all-conference honors as a junior and senior shortstop at Lee’s Summit North... he also earned all-conference accolades on the mound as well as first team all-district and all-area... as a senior he hit .415 with five home runs, 10 triples, 16 doubles, and 36 RBI... on the mound he logged a 9-1 record with 70 strikeouts and a 2.25 ERA...helped his squad to conference titles in hid final two campaigns... in 2004, 2005, and 2006 he was an American Legion fifth district All-Star Team selection... as a senior he played in the Mo-Kan All-Star Game and the Missouri East vs. West All-Star Game.
