Coach Myers on Blaine Rutledge: This fall we saw Blaine play the game at a high level… he provides a threat of power and speed that we feel will give opposing teams problems… a good defensive outfielder that showed plus arm strength and accuracy.

As a Junior: Rutledge was chosen honorable mention All-MIAA as a utility player ... The Mules utility man, Rutledge saw starting action at outfield and DH while leading the squad in triples with eight... Earned NCAA All-Central Regional Tournament team honors for his play there... ended the season on an 18-game hitting streak and batted .396 from the start of MIAA play through the end of the year... Had six three-hit games, including a seven RBI performance against Emporia State on April 22, where he had two homers and a triple... tied a conference record with eight at-bats against Fort Hays in the MIAA Tourney (May 11).

Before UCM: Rutledge led the Wolfpack in nearly every offensive category, hitting .423 with an outstanding .551 on base percentage... he scored 57 runs in 57 games and tallied 74 hits for head coach Mike Davenport’s squad, earning the distinction of second-team NJCAA All-American... he also helped MATC to a conference and regonal title and an appearance in the NJCAA World Series... He attended Chaska High School in Chaska, Minn. and was a two-time all- conference performer and played in the Lions All-Star Game... he also lettered three seasons in hockey.

Personal: Sociology major ... born June 5, 1986... son of Bob Rutledge and Kelly Bjerken.
