Coach Myers on Luis Perez: Luis is a great player that brings a tremendous attitude, energy, and work ethic to our club… he will be relied upon to handle our pitching staff and control the game… he gives us a quality catcher that can hit in the middle of the order.
As a Junior: Perez was named honorable mention All-MIAA ... The Mules starting catcher, he logged eight homers and a .991 fielding percentage... logged a 3 of-3 performance against Washburn (Mar 17), hitting two home runs and tallying five RBI... Also had a 3-of-4 game against Emporia (Apr 22), scoring three runs... hit .328 after the start of MIAA play.
Before UCM: He was two-time first-team all-region pick at Western Nebraska... he also earned allconference honors both seasons... a native of Valencia, Venezuela, he graduated from Colegio “Padre Seijas”... he also played for the Venezuelan National Team in 2002.
Personal: Exercise Science major ... born December 20, 1985 ... son of Alfredo and Gisela Perez.
