The 2008 Celebrating Central Athletics Auction is set for Friday, August 15th. The eighth annual event will include a preview of auction items on Thursday evening, Aug. 14th, and a golf tournament on Friday before the auction.

Caldwell and Holmes honored by the NTCA

Bryanna Caldwell and Ron Holmes have been honored by the NTCA, with Caldwell selected as the D-II "Player of the Year" and Holmes tabbed as the D-II "Coach of the Year". Caldwell is also a first-team All-American on the squad chosen by the members of the National Ten Pin Coaches Association...More Info »

The Jennies tied for fifth place at the NCAA Championships in Omaha, Nebraska. The Jennies defeated top-seed Nebraska (4-1) in their opening match, but then fell (4.5-2.5) to New Jersey City University in their second match, and were eliminated by defending national champion Vanderbilt (4-2).

The Jennies picked up the championship of the Columbia 300 Music City Classic on Sunday, edging host and defending national champion Vanderbilt University by two pins. The Jennies secured the title with a 290 Baker Game against Vanderbilt in the final match Sunday. Jamie Mitchell (pictured above) led UCM with a 192 average and finished sixth overall. Alyssa Surges (190.67 ave.) and Bryanna Caldwell (188 ave.) also finished in the top ten, 7th and 9th respectively.

Jennies runner-up at Alabama A&M Classic

Amanda Falk (pictured above in action from earlier this season) led the Jennies to a second place finish over the weekend at the Alabama A&M Holiday Collegiate Classic in Bessemer, Alabama. The Jennies, ranked fifth in the latest acrobat readerNTCA Poll », went 8-2 in the event and finished just 32 pins behind the University of Nebraska. Falk finished with a 10-game average of 217.60, finishing seventh overall, and was one of four UCM bowlers to average over 200 for the weekend (Alyssa Surges-208.7, Bryanna Caldwell-206.2, and Sam Swanson-205.2). acrobat readerFinal Results



Jennies first in D-II/III at Morgan State Invite

Samantha Swanson (pictured above) was the top individual performer in the D-II/III field over the weekend with a 214.6 average, and led the Jennies to a second place finish overall in the Morgan State University Invitational in Baltimore, Maryland. The Jennies, ranked fifth in the latest acrobat readerNTCA Poll », posted an 8-1 team record, and had a total score of 9126, and trailed only Nebraska in the overall 31-team field, but finished first in the D-II/III field. Swanson was fourth overall, with teammate Alyssa Surges (204.4 average) finishing sixth in the D-II/III division.

Alyssa Surges had a 204.2 average and finished third at the Jeannette Lee Invitational

The Jennies successfully defended their title at the Jeannette Lee Invitational over the weekend in Midlothian, Virginia. The Jennies, who are ranked fourth in the latest acrobat readerNTCA Poll », finished the event with a 9-1 record and a 330 pin advantage over runner-up New Jersey City College. Bryanna Caldwell (205.3 average) and Alyssa Surges (204.2 average) led UCM with a second and third place individual finish respectively.

Ron Holmes (above) was the Division II "Coach of the Year" in voting by membership of the NTCA. He will have Caldwell and Mitchell return to lead the Jennies, who finished the 2007 season with a record of
81-28-1
and a spot in the NCAA Championships in Apopka, Florida.
