Jennies sign two more for 2008-2009
The University of Central Missouri Jennies bowling squad continues to build for the future, adding Kim Wallace and Samantha Johnsen for the 2008-09 season.
Kim Wallace , from Richmond, Texas is currently ranked in the top 20 percent of her senior class while also performing as a multiple sport athlete at Lamar Consolidated High School… In addition to being named as the 2008 Texas Youth Bowler of the Year, she led her team to a fourth place finish at the 2007 Texas High School Bowling Championships and finished second in the individual standings… She was also crowned Champion of the 2005 Texas State Girls Scratch Championships and has earned two top-three finishes in the Texas Pepsi Youth Championships since 2005… Wallace is a five-time qualifier for the USBC Jr. National Championships and will be heading to Detroit, Mich. this summer to try and earn a spot as a member of Jr. Team U.S.A. 2009… The 5 foot 4 inch left-hander has a career high game of 296, high series of 755 and current average of 202… Kim is the daughter of Keith and Dottie Wallace and will major in accounting at UCM.
Samantha Johnsen, from Aurora, Illinois was a four-year varsity player and three-year captain at Waubonsie Valley High School during her career… She anchored the Warriors to two Illinois State High School Championship events (2008, 2006), with her team finishing in third place this past February… Johnsen also helped lead the team to three conference championships and earned 13 high school medals during her career, including two MVP honors… Johnsen was also named the 2008 Greater Aurora USBC Star of Tomorrow and the Naperville Sun Newspaper Most Valuable Player for 2008… She will be headed to Detroit, Mich. this summer as well to compete in the USBC Jr. National Championships as this three-time qualifier earned semi-finalist honors in 2006… The 5 foot 3 inch right-hander has a career high game of 280, high series of 727 and high average of 208… She is the daughter of Frank and Theresa Johnsen and will major in special education this fall.
“We are very excited about adding Kim and Samantha to our program.” Said Jennies Head Coach Ron Holmes. “Kim is quiet but provides us another high quality left-handed player and Samantha brings a very energetic, hard-working personality to the squad. Both players provide great depth for UCM and will be important contributors to our future success.”
