Amanda and Natalie Cortese, both recognized among the nation’s top high school female bowling recruits, have signed National Letters of Intent to join the University of Central Missouri in 2008-09.

The highly-talented identical twins have shared many team accomplishments, leading Hoffman Estates (Illinois) High School to top-5 finishes each of the last three seasons at the IHSA Bowling Championships including State Champion (2006) and Runner –Up (2005) honors.  While competing for Coach Dan Pfligler’s squad, both players have earned a combined 50 youth and high school Top-10 awards, have been recognized by Bowler’s Journal Magazine among the Nation’s Top 50 Recruits for 2006 and 2007, and the sisters have been featured by Bowl.com for their performances.

However, each student-athlete owns a very impressive personal resume.

“We are very excited to have Amanda and Natalie join our program”, Coach Ron Holmes stated.  “They are used to performing at a high level and know each other’s strengths, which will be of great benefit for our team.  Both players will immediately help our squad and adding these two outstanding women is exciting for our future”.

Amanda, a National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society recipient and honor roll student, was a 2007 Illinois All-State selection and finished as 2007 IHSA Championship All-Events Runner-up.  Other honors include 2007 USBC Youth Open Doubles Champion, three All-District Academic & Athletic Scholar awards, was the 2007 Pioneer Press Bowler of the Year Award winner, and she is a 2007 Peer Leader and Mentor.  She has also earned six All-Tournament Team awards, has a high average of 222, high 3-game series of 757, and a high game of 300 (2).

Natalie, also a National Honor Society recipient and honor roll student, is a 2-time Illinois All-State selection (2005, 2007) and has set or tied four Illinois High School state records during her career thus far.  She was a 2007 USBC Junior Gold Championships Semi-Finalist, was the 2007 Illinois Pepsi Youth Champion, and earned 2005 Pioneer Press Bowler of the Year honors.  She was also a three-time All-District Academic & Athletic Scholar Award winner, is a 2007 Peer Leader and Mentor, owns 11 youth event titles, and has earned seven high school All-Tournament honors.  Natalie’s biography includes a high average of 221, high series of 802, and high game of 300.

Both student-athletes are the daughters of Joseph and Angelina Cortese.  Natalie will major in Art while Amanda will major in History at UCM.
