Jennies announce 2009-2010 signees

The University of Central Missouri women’s bowling team and Head Coach Ron Holmes announced the signing of three student-athletes to National Letters of Intent today, and will compete for the Jennies next fall.

Madison Williams

5-9  *  Right

Katy, Texas  *  Katy High School

The 2009 Texas Girls High School State Singles Champion, she was selected as the 2008-09 Greater Houston Youth Bowler of the Year…  she was also the 2008 Greater Houston Girls All-Events Champion, 2009 Scratch City Champion, and was recently inducted into the Greater Houston USBC Hall of Honor…  Williams was a four-year state finalist for Katy High School, anchoring her team to four Texas High School Championship events and winning the 2006 and 2008 Region IX titles…  at the national level, her outstanding performances have earned her berths into the national finals of the Teen Master’s Championships each of the last two seasons…  the daughter of Frank and Ruby Williams, she will major in athletic training.

Larissa Lantto

5-1  *  Right

Eden Prairie, Minn.  *  Eden Prairie High School

A two-time all-conference selection for Eden Prairie High School during her four years as a starter…  she was selected to the Minneapolis and St. Paul all-city teams in 2008 and 2009 and won the Minneapolis Female Youth Average title in 2008 with an average of 207…  Lantto also won an Iowa Junior Bowlers Tour event in 2007 and has qualified for the 2009 Minnesota Pepsi State Youth Championships…  at the national level, her performances have earned her spots in the United States’ Junior National Championship (Jr. Gold) from 2006-08, including a semi-finalist finish in 2008…  her individual accomplishments also include a high game of 298 and a high series of 780…  her parents, Sam and Debbie, are both highly accomplished bowlers while her father is a former member of Team USA.

Kelli Schroeder

5-3  *  Right

Blaine, Minnesota  *  Centennial High School

Finished fourth at the 2008 Minnesota High School State Bowling Championships and has been an all-conference selection for each of the last three years at Centennial High School…  she was named to the Minneapolis all-city teams for 2006-08 and was 2008 MVP of the Minneapolis All-City Team… she was crowned the 2008 Minneapolis Youth City All-Events Champion and won the Minnesota Female Youth Average title for 2008 with an average of 218… Schroeder was also the Minnesota Pepsi Youth Championships Champion for 2007-08, and is a multi-time champion of Minnesota and Iowa Junior Bowling Tour events.  At the national level, she will be making her third trip to the United States’ Junior National Championships this summer…  her individual accomplishments include a high game of 296 and a series of 792.  The daughter of Greg and Theresa Schroeder, she will be majoring in secondary education this fall.

“We have signed three outstanding student-athletes who will help our program immediately”, commented Head Coach Ron Holmes.  “Each player has had a great deal of experience and we believe that they will be able to continue that with us at Central Missouri.  We are very excited to have Madison, Larissa, and Kelli join us here at UCM.”
