2008 Athletic Auction Information

The 2008 Celebrating Central Athletics Auction is set for Friday, August 15th. The eighth annual event will include a preview of auction items on Thursday evening, Aug. 14th, and a golf tournament on Friday before the auction.

Walker inks new deal with 49'ers

Former Mules standout Delanie Walker (#3 pictured above during action from 2004) has signed a new contract with the San Francisco 49'ers...More Info »

Walker is one of two former Mules on the 49'ers roster, with Rod Green also listed on the pre-season roster.


Weatherington is All-Arena League selection

Colston Weatherington has been selected a first-team All-Arena Football League member for the third consecutive season as a member of the Dallas Desperados.

Weatherington is one of three former Mules on AFL rosters this past season. Kevin Nickerson played with the Orlando Predators, while Todd Devoe was a member of the Arizona Rattlers.

Action from the Mules spring game on Saturday, April 26th, at Walton Stadium-Kennedy Field. The controlled scrimmage was the final event of the spring practice schedule. The 2008 season schedule will kick-off on Thursday night, August 28th, with a home game against Minnesota State University at 7 p.m.

Kendall Ricketts (left) and Matt Frankel (right) took part in the annual Valero Cactus Bowl NCAA-II All-Star Game on Friday, January 11th. Ricketts finished with seven tackles in the game, while Frankel averaged 39.6 yards on five punts. Both played for the West squad that fell to the East team 42-13.

2008 Schedule Announced

UCM Mules football will enjoy seven home games in the 2008 season, including a pair of Thursday night non-conference contests to open the season. Starting times for road games will be announced when finalized:

Thursday, Sept. 4 vs. Arkansas Tech (7 p.m.)
Saturday, Sept. 13 at Truman State (7 p.m.)
Saturday, Sept. 20 vs. Washburn (1:30 p.m.)
Saturday, Sept. 27 at Pittsburg State (2 p.m.)
Oct. 4 vs. Emporia State - Family Weekend (1:30 p.m)
Oct. 11 vs. Northwest Missouri State (1:30 p.m.)
Oct. 18 at Missouri Southern (2 p.m.)
Oct. 25 vs. Nebraska-Omaha - Homecoming (1:30 p.m.)
Nov. 1 vs. Missouri Western (1:30 p.m.)

21 Mules are named to MIAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll

Mules put a positive finish to the final chapter of their 2007 season Saturday by posting a 31-10 victory over Fort Hays State at Walton Stadium-Kennedy Field. The Mules jumped out to a 17-0 lead and never looked back in picking up the MIAA victory to finish the season with a 6-3 mark in the league and 7-4 overall. 14 seniors were honored prior to the game as part of Senior Day 2007. Head coach Willie Fritz (right) receives a commemorative football from Athletic Director Jerry Hughes during pre-game ceremonies on Homecoming 2007, October 20th. The football documents Coach Fritz 79th career victory as Mules coach on October 6th at Emporia State, becoming the all-time winningest coach in Mules football history.
