Kendall Ricketts signs CFL contract

Former Central Missouri Mules safety Kendall Ricketts will continue his football playing career in the Canadian Football League this fall for the Toronto Argonauts. He became the first football player in school history to earn All-American honors in three different years, earning first-team accolades for the second time last season.
The Raytown South High School product was a four-time All-MIAA performer at free safety (three first-team selections). He also played in the Division II All-Star Game on January 11 at the Cactus Bowl in Kingsville, Texas.
He put himself in a class of his own as one of the best defensive players to ever wear a Mule uniform this past season. He became the all-time leading tackler in school history and did it as a free safety, with 344, passing linebacker Joe Grubb’s 333. He also ranks sixth in school history after picking off his 10th career pass and returning it 48 yards to seal the win against an NCAA Playoff team on the road at Washburn. Ricketts holds the MIAA record with four interception returns for touchdowns in his career.
He ranked second on the team this season with 78 tackles, and missed two games due to a knee injury. That ranked him third in the MIAA with 8.7 tackles per game. He was named the MIAA Defensive Player of the Week for his 20 tackle performance against Pittsburg State as well (tied a school record for tackles in a game by a defensive back).
Ricketts will graduate this May from UCM with a degree in safety management. He has maintained a 3.05 grade-point average as well.
