Kendall Ricketts named
All-American for third year
Kendall Ricketts is the first player in school history to earn All-American honors for three years
Outgoing senior Kendall Ricketts keeps adding to his honors as he was named first-team AFCA All-American on Wednesday. He became the first player in school history to earn All-American honors in three different years.
Ricketts, a four-time All-MIAA performer at free safety (three first-team selections), will also play in the Division II All-Star Game on January 11 at the Cactus Bowl in Kingsville, Texas. He put himself in a class of his own as one of the best defensive players to ever wear a Mule uniform this season. He became the all-time leading tackler in school history and did it as a free safety, with 344, passing linebacker Joe Grubb’s 333. He also ranks sixth in school history after picking off his 10th career pass and returning it 48 yards to seal the win against an NCAA Playoff team on the road at Washburn. He ranked second on the team this season with 78 tackles, and missed two games due to a knee injury. That ranked him third in the MIAA with 8.7 tackles per game. He was named the MIAA Defensive Player of the Week for his 20 tackle performance against Pittsburg State as well (tied a school record for tackles in a game by a defensive back).
