Sophomore tight end DeMarco Cosby was named a 2008 Don Hansen’s Football Gazette honorable mention All-American. He was the first All-American selection for the Mules this season. adobe reader icon All-American Team »

Cosby, who had 623 yards receiving and five touchdowns, set a school record for yards by a tight end in a season. He was also a first-team All-MIAA and first-team all-region selection.

The Kansas City, Mo. native is a graduate of Lincoln Prep High School.

John Wood (90) was a unanimous selection on the All-MIAA squad for the 2008 season

The University of Central Missouri Mules football squad had 11 players named to the All-MIAA team, including four on the first-team. John Wood and Steven Ehase were honored on defense, while Tim Richmond and DeMarco Cosby represent the Mules on offense.

The Mules only unanimous selection was senior defensive end John Wood (Miami, Fla.). He is a two-time selection to the first-team, and led the Mules with five sacks, five pass breakups, seven quarterback hurries, and three forced fumbles.

Joining him on the first team is bandit backer Steven Ehase (Fulton, Mo.), who led the Mules with 84 tackles and three interceptions. He was an honorable mention pick a year ago.

On offense, junior wide receiver Tim Richmond (Carencro, La.) was a first-team selection after leading UCM with 46 grabs for 695 yards and six touchdowns.

He was joined by sophomore tight end DeMarco Cosby (Kansas City, Mo.), who had 623 yards receiving and five touchdowns, setting a school record for yards by a tight end in a season. Both were first-time selections to the All-MIAA squad.

The only second-team pick was senior running back Glenn Milner (Renton, Wash.). He scored 15 touchdowns and had 1,398 all-purpose yards. It was his second consecutive selection to the second team.

Record-setting junior quarterback Eric Czerniewski (Montgomery City, Mo.) was an honorable mention selection, along with senior kicker Mark Starks (Kansas City, Mo.), junior kick returner Bobby Guillory (Vallejo, Calif.), senior linebacker Adrian Singletary (Kansas City, Mo.), senior defensive tackle Derek Lampkin (Lawson, Mo.), and junior punter Jordan Hofer (Streamwood, Ill.).

Mules end 2008 season with victory

The Mules closed out their regular season with a 24-21 win over Fort Hays State in Hays, Kan., on Saturday (Nov. 8th). The Mules snapped a two-game losing skid to finish the season at 7-4 overall and 5-4 in MIAA play. Eric Czerniewski threw for 371 yards and accounted for all three Mules touchdowns. Former Mules Assistant Coach inducted into NFL Hall of Fame

Emmitt Thomas, who served as an assistant coach with the Mules from 1979-1980, was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame on Saturday, August 2nd. Thomas was a star defensive back with the Kansas City Chiefs from 1966 to 1978.



Weatherington is named AFL Lineman of the Year

Colston Weatherington has been named the 2008 Lineman of the Year in the Arena Football League. It's the second time that Weatherington has received the top honor as the league's top lineman. adobe reader iconMore Info »
The former Mules standout was selected a first-team All-League member for the third consecutive season as a member of the Dallas Desperados. More Info »

Weatherington was one of three former Mules on AFL rosters this past season. Kevin Nickerson played with the Orlando Predators, while Todd Devoe was a member of the Arizona Rattlers.

Walker inks new deal with 49'ers
