Coleman signs with Saskatchewan

Central Missouri State University’s career rushing leader, Kegan Coleman, has signed a contract agreement to play for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League.

“I’m really looking forward to getting out there and show them what I can do to compete in the league,” Coleman says. “This is a dream come true for me. The process got started when my agent contacted a couple of scouts in Canada, and (Saskatchewan) knew who I was because they had scouted me. We got to talking and things worked.”

Coleman set the CMSU football records for career rushing, all-purpose yards, and scoring. In 2004 Coleman missed the first five games of the year with a broken foot, but still finished the year with 767 yards rushing (127.8 per game) and 12 touchdowns. He also caught 12 passes for 112 yards and a TD and returned 12 kickoffs 205 yards for a total of 1,084 all-purpose yards (180.7 per game). A second-team All-MIAA pick as a senior, he was first-team all-conference his sophomore and junior seasons. He also was an All-America selection as an all-purpose back in 2002 and 2003.

The Lee’s Summit, Mo. native finished his CMSU career with 3,995 rushing yards; 5,939 all-purpose yards; 64 touchdowns; and 384 points.

Coleman reports to camp with the Roughriders on May 24.
