Delanie Walker (3), in action from this past season, was selected in the sixth round of the NFL Draft on Sunday by the San Francisco 49ers.  Walker, who had 61 receptions and scored eight touchdowns for the Mules this past season to earn All-MIAA honors, was the 175th overall pick in the NFL Draft and becomes the second highest draft choice in Mules football history...More Info

Two former Mules players, Colston Weatherington (left) and Kevin Nickerson (right), have had a successful season in the Arena Football League.  Weatherington plays with the Dallas Desperados, who are in the league playoffs, and was recently named first-team All-AFL as a defensive lineman/offensive lineman.  Nickerson led his squad, the Austin Wranglers, with 24 touchdown receptions and was second in receiving yards with 1,082.



Action from the Mules "Spring Scrimmage" that closed out the spring practice drills on Saturday, April 22nd.  The 2006 regular season schedule is slated to kick-off at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Mo., on September 2nd.


Former Mules assistant football coach Dave Bassore died on Monday, April 3rd, as a results of an automobile accident in the Kansas City area.  Bassore was an assistant coach with the Mules football program from 1997-2000, serving as both defensive and offensive coordinator during his tenure.

IN MEMORY OF
HOWARD MAHANES

Howard Mahanes, who was head coach for the Mules for nine season (1966-1974), died on Thursday, February 23, 2006 in Warrensburg.  Mahanes is the third winningest coach in CMSU football history and took two teams to post-season games.  His 1968 squad earned a bid to the Mineral Water Bowl, and his 1970 team was the first Mules' football team to post nine wins in a season, shared the MIAA title, and earned a bid to the Pecan Bowl in Arlington, Texas.  Mahanes was inducted into the CMSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001, while the 1968 Team was inducted in 1994 and the 1970 team followed in 1995.

Kendall Ricketts (21), pictured in action returning an interception for a touchdown against Pittsburg State, is one of three First-Team All-MIAA selections from the Mules.  Ricketts was the only CMSU defensive player selected to the first-team, while wide receiver Delanie Walker and offensive lineman Darryl Grace were the other first-team picks from the Mules, who finished the 2005 season with an overall record of 7-3 overall and 5-3 in the MIAA.
