Coach Fritz on James Scully: “James is showing flashes of being a
good fullback in the MIAA, just needs to be more consistent. We need
him to be successful for our running game.”
As a sophomore: Saw action in eight games and rushed eight times for
53 yards, all against Southwest Baptist... long run of the game and
season was 17 yards.
As a freshman: played in three games in a reserve fullback role while
making the switch to fullback from linebacker... had one tackle.
In high school: A two-time all-state pick at Grain Valley High School,
he set school records for single-season (197) and career (501) tackles for
head coach Forrest Rovello ... he was a three-time all-area, all-metro,
and all-district pick while helping GVHS to a pair of conference titles ...
a three-sports standout, he was all-state three times in wrestling (two
fifth place finishes and a runner-up showing) and was a four-time allconference
performer in track & field, earning all-state honors once ...
he helped the football team to a pair of conference and district
championships, and the wrestling and track & field teams to three
conference titles.
