Central Missouri Mules golf finished second at the MIAA Tournament Tuesday with a three round total of 899 at Shoal Creek Golf Club, but claimed the overall league championship for the first time since 2002, tallying 38 league points.

The Mules had won the previous three conference sanctioned events during the 2008-09 regular season, and needed to finish no worse than third at the conference meet to win the MIAA title. Washburn won the event with an 879, but finished second in the league with 33.5 points.

Matt Miller was the individual champion of the event with a one-over-par 214 over the 54 holes of competition. Justin Yoder, named the MIAA "Golfer of the Year", finished in fourth place with a 220. Ty Needels, along with Miller, was also named All-MIAA for their performance all season.

Head coach Tim Poe, who directed the Mules to their 17th team title in school history, was named the Conference Coach of the Year.
