The University of Central Missouri golf squad won its biggest tournament of the year Tuesday at the prestigious NCAA Division II Preview, tallying a two-round total of 610 to win by 12 strokes. The Mules have now won all four tournaments they have played in this fall.

The 72-par Sagamore Club saw 35 mph wind on Monday afternoon, but the Mules held a five-shot lead over Grand Valley State (Mich.) and Washburn after the opening round with a 309. Day two saw the winds calm down, and the Mules put up a 301 to claim the title over second place Bellarmine (Ky.).

Junior Matt Miller tied for third with a 150, while senior Justin Yoder tallied a 151 to tie for fifth. Also in the top 10 was sophomore Jared King, who carded a 153 to take a tie for sixth.

The tournament was at the site of the 2010 Division II Championships this spring, and featured many of the top teams in the nation. Nine of the teams were receiving votes in the latest Golf World/Nike D-II Coaches poll, including defending national champion Sonoma State (Calif.). There were 18 total teams in the event, hosted by the University of Indianapolis.
