Tim Poe is in his 22nd year as the men’s head golf coach at the University of Central Missouri. He has built the Mules' golf program into one of the best in all of NCAA Division II.

In 2010, Poe led the Mules to a second place finish at the NCAA Division II National Championships in Noblesville, IN, the highest finish in school history and in MIAA history. Poe received the 2010 NCAA Division II National Coach of the Year. To highlight the season, he was selected to coach the prestigious  United States Palmer Cup team at The Stanwich Club in Greenwich, CT, the first Division II coach to be named to the position (Team USA defeated Team Europe, 13-11).

In 2011, the Mules again qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships in Florence, AL, finishing in a tie for third. This marked the Mules 6th appearance (3rd consecutive) at the NCAA Division II National Championships.

Under Poe’s direction, the Mules have won 11 MIAA championships, including six straight years (1997-2002). The Mules have also made 18 straight NCAA postseason appearances. Poe has been named the MIAA Coach of the Year 11 times, and is a six-time recipient of the NCAA Division II Regional/District Coach of the Year Award. In Poe’s career to date, he has helped to produce more than 57 All-MIAA selections, three MIAA Players of the Year, one All-Nicklaus Team Award winner, 10 PING All-Region/District picks and 12 PING All-America selections.

A native of Keokuk, Iowa, Poe graduated from UCM in 1987 with a BS in Graphic Arts Technology/Management with a minor in Photography. As a member of the Mules' golf team, he was captain his junior and senior years and a two-time All-MIAA and All-NCAA District 5 selection. As a senior, he qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championships in Columbus, GA.

Following his collegiate career, Poe turned professional and became the assistant golf pro at UCM's Keth Memorial Golf Course before being named to the position of head golf professional and men’s head golf coach the summer of 1990.  His current position is the director of golf and the men’s head golf coach.

In his professional career, Poe has won three tournaments and has qualified for a Ben Hogan tour event and two Nike tour events (both now known as the Nationwide Tour). He has been a member of the Professional Golfers’ Association of America since 1990.

Tim and his wife, Rhonda, have 2 children and 2 grandchildren.
