Jennies fail to finish off Cameron
in final game of Cruzin' Classic

Lindsey Maple tied a Jennies record with seven three-point field goals in the game against Cameron
The Central Missouri Jennies dropped a tough game to Cameron (Okla.) University 71-68 on Thursday, the final day of the Cruzin’ Classic in Miami Shores, Fla. The Jennies led by as many as 11 in the first half, but the fatigue from playing on back-to-back days took its toll down the stretch.
Just like their first game in the Classic, the Jennies (5-4) came out strong to start the game opening an early six point lead. UCM pushed that lead to as many as 11 at 35-24 with under three minutes to play in the half, but the Aggies responded with a 10-2 run that included a three-pointer at the buzzer to get to within three at the break, 37-34. The Jennies shot 46-percent from the field in the first half, but Cameron shot 51-percent and UCM struggled from the foul line connecting on only 50-percent of their attempts.
The Aggies took their first lead of the game at 40-39 with 16:45 remaining, but Lindsey Maple hit two of her career-high seven three-pointers to put the Jennies back in front 45-40 with just under 15 minutes to play. The seven three pointers by Maple also tied a school record set by Jessica Burkholder back in 1997.
Cameron regained the lead at 48-47 with 11 minutes to play and pushed their lead to four at 53-49, Maple again hit back-to-back threes and the Jennies were back in front at 55-53 with 8:42 to play in the game.
The game was tied on four separate occasions down the stretch before Cameron went in front 70-65 with 1:23 to play. Kara Fleming hit a layup and added a free throw to cut the lead to two at 70-68 with :31 to play. UCM had possession, down by two with :26 left in regulation, but turned the ball over without getting off a shot. The Aggies hit one of two free throws to make it a three point lead at 71-68 with just two seconds remaining. The Jennies turned it over before they could get off a shot, however, on the ensuing inbounds play Cameron threw it away giving the Jennies one last chance. Maple’s desperation three-pointer at the buzzer missed off to the side and the Jennies fell to the Aggies, 71-68.
Maple led all scorers with 25 points on nine of 16 shooting, including her career-high seven three-pointers. Jojuana Jones recorded her third straight double-double with 14 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Dominica Blakemore added 11 for UCM, while Fleming added six points and a career-high eight assists.
