Jennies get first road victory at
Nebraska-Omaha

Kara Fleming scored a career high nine points and dished out six assists in the Jennies victory
In a preview of what will become a yearly meeting the Central Missouri Jennies defeated the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks 70-56 on Friday night in the Doubletree Downtown Hotel Classic at Sapp Fieldhouse. The Mavericks will join the MIAA next season.
The Jennies (3-2) came out strong opening a 19-14 advantage behind the play of Lindsey Maple, who scored UCM’s first eight points and 13 of the first 15. The Jennies hit a dry spell, however, going nearly five minutes without a bucket as UNO took a 20-19 lead. UCM responded scoring 13 unanswered points to take a 32-20 lead. The teams traded buckets before the break with the Jens taking a 34-24 lead into the intermission.
The second half got off to a slow start with the teams trading turnovers before Maple sank a couple of free throws to give the Jens a 36-24 lead at the 17:58 mark. Maple recorded the Jennies first field goal of the half with 14:31 remaining to push the lead back to nine at 38-29. Stephenie Cook knocked down a three – her first points of the game – as the Jennies matched their biggest lead at 12, 41-29.
Just like the first half, the Jennies went cold from the field and UNO took advantage going on a 14-2 run to tie the game at 43 with 8:48 left in the game. The Jennies responded with a 15-4 run of their own to push the lead back to 11 at 58-47. The Jennies opened their biggest lead of the game at 65-51 on a Jojuana Jones jumper with just under three minutes to play. Jones also added her first career three pointer for the 70-56 final.
Maple led the Jennies with 24 points. Dominica Blakemore tied her career-high with 14 points and Kara Fleming notched a career-high with nine points.
