Jennies fall on the road at
Southern Indiana

Lindsey Maple led the Jennies with 17 points in Tuesday's game
The Central Missouri Jennies struggled in their road opener and fell to Southern Indiana 92-65 at the Physical Activities Center on Tuesday night in Evansville.
It took both teams awhile to get started, but once they did one team really took off. The bad news for Central Missouri is that it was the Screaming Eagles of Southern Indiana who took off. The Jennies scored the first bucket 1:45 into the game and took a 2-0 lead, but that would be their only lead of the night. USI took the lead at 3-2 and never trailed again.
The two teams traded buckets for the next couple of minutes before the Jennies dug themselves a hole from which they couldn’t recover. UCM trailed 18-15 at the 8:25 mark before Southern Indiana went on a 17-4 run to open a 16-point lead with 3:44 remaining in the half. The lead increased to 18 at 39-21 after USI forced a Jennies turnover – one of 13 in the first half – and converted it into an easy layup. The Jennies went on a mini-run to end the half, but the Screaming Eagles still led 43-28 at the break.
The Jennies shot just 21 percent (8-38) in the opening stanza including just 13 percent (2-15) from beyond the arc. On the other hand, Southern Indiana blistered the nets at 51 percent (15-29). UCM did hit 10 of 13 from the free throw line in the first half to keep the game as close as they could. Lindsey Maple led the Jennies in the first half with 12 points on four of 10 shooting, including both of Central Missouri’s first half three pointers.
The Jennies made a short run early in the second half to cut the lead to 13 at 47-34 with 16:31 remaining, but the Screaming Eagles answered by scoring 15 of the next 20 points to open a 23 point advantage at 62-39. The lead grew to 34 at 82-48 on a Jasmine Baines layup with 6:57 to go. The teams traded buckets the rest of the way and Southern Indiana came away with the 92-65 win.
Southern Indiana finished with five players in double figures including Jasmine Baines’ 25 points, which led all scorers.
Maple led the Jennies with 17. Stephanie Hicks added 13 points off the bench.
