Jennies extended to overtime for home victory

Jojuana Jones posted her second double-double of the season in the victory
The Central Missouri Jennies basketball team used a strong overtime period to avoid a scare and defeat William Jewell College 72-62 on Thursday night at the Multipurpose Building. William Jewell came from eight down in the final five minutes to force the extra period. UCM outscored WJC 14-4 in the overtime period.
The Jennies (4-3) were led by Lindsey Maple with 21 points. Jojuana Jones recorded her second double-double of the season with 14 points – including eight in overtime – and 12 rebounds.
The Jennies led by as many as eight in the first half, but turnovers allowed the Cardinals to creep back into the game and eventually take a two point lead into the intermission. UCM opened the second half on a 10-0 to take a 41-33 lead. WJC closed the gap to two points before the Jennies pushed the lead back to nine at 52-43 with 8:05 remaining in the game. The Cardinals ended the game on a 15-6 run, including a three-pointer with two seconds remaining to force overtime.
UCM scored the first six points of the extra period then made eight straight free throws to ice the game. Jones and Maple scored all 14 of the Jennies points in overtime.
