Sanijay Watts surpassed the 1,000-point milestone in his UCM career on Wednesday night.
The Mules rolled to an 82-64 win over Emporia State on Wednesday night at the UCM Multipurpose Building, and in the process hit several milestones, including head coach Kim Anderson’s school-record tying 178th win.
Anderson matched UCM Hall of Famer Tad Reid, who was 178-110 in 15 seasons from 1923-38. Anderson’s career record now sits at 178-60 in only his eighth season. Anderson also wrapped up his fifth 20-win season in the last six years, matching Lynn Nance for the most years in that category. It was the 22nd 20-win season ever at UCM.
The Mules are now 20-1 overall with the win, the best start through 21 games since 1980 when UCM started 25-1. The Mules remain atop the MIAA with a 13-1 league mark, and also clinched a berth in the MIAA Tournament with the victory.
Individually, senior forward Sanijay Watts became the 19th player in school history to surpass the 1,000-point milestone, and only the eighth two-year player to do it. He put up 24 points on the night and now sits at 1,005. Getting overshadowed was a career night from junior guard Ryan Harris, who put up a career-high 28 points in the contest.
Mules are idle from game competition until next Wednesday, Feb. 10th, when they hit the road to Topeka, Kan., for a league battle with Washburn at 7:30 p.m.

A "Black-Out Saturday" crowd of 5,378 that witnessed the Mules run past Northwest Missouri State on national TV (Feb. 21), helped to bolster the Mules average home attendance to 2,982, ranking third best in D-II for the 2008-2009 season.
The Mules averaged just under 3,000 fans per home game in 17 dates, with home crowds of over 4,000 on four other different dates, and topped 3,000 on three other home dates. The Mules home attendance helped the MIAA top the nation in average home attendance this past season.
