Mules are introduced at the State Capitol in Jefferson City

The University of Central Missouri Mules basketball team was honored in front of the Missouri House of Representatives and Senate at the State Capitol in Jefferson City on Tuesday, April 28 for their successful 2008-09 campaign. Rep. Denny Hoskins read a proclamation in front of the House and Sen. David Pearce honored the team in the Missouri Senate Chamber.

The Mules made their second trip to the NCAA Division II Final Four in the last three years, winning 30 games for only the second time in school history (30-5). They won the MIAA Tournament title and the NCAA South Central Region Championship.

“I am very proud to have been able to recognize the coaches, the staff, and the student athletes yesterday on the House floor to commend them on their season.” Representative Denny Hoskins said, “The basketball program worked hard and was rewarded for their efforts. I was honored to recognize them on behalf of the 121st District, and as a very proud UCM alum.”

"It was a thrill to host Coach Anderson and the UCM Men's basketball team in the State Senate Chamber.” Senator Davis Pearce said, “They were a class act and it was an honor to be able to share their success with my fellow colleagues.  Let's do it again next year!"

“We would like to thank Representative Hoskins and Senator Pearce for the opportunity to visit the State Capitol, including the Senate, and House of Representatives.” Head Coach Kim Anderson said, “It was a great opportunity for the players to see our government in action and represent the University of Central Missouri.”
