Coach Anderson says: A versatile combo guard. He is a solid ball handler and an excellent perimeter shooter. We look for him to be successful in both of those roles.
Before UCM: Played for head coach Doug Wagemester at Kirkwood last season, earning first-team NJCAA-II honors… He helped the squad to an appearance in the national championship game last season, grabbing NJCAA All-Tournament team… The squad went 27-6 overall and won the conference title, while Brunz was the league MVP, averaging 14.3 points per game with a 2-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio, and shot 45 percent from three point range… Other honors in 2008-09 include first-team all-conference and all-region, Region MVP, and team MVP… He also ranked second in the nation in free throw percentage, hitting nearly 90 percent… As a freshman the squad advanced to the national semifinals and won both the conference and regional titles… Brunz also participated in the NJCAA All Star Classic Game… He attended Mankato West High School, playing for head coach Tom Boone… Holds the school record for free throws made and percentage (89.9 percent)… Led the team to Big 9 titles twice, and Section 2AAA runner-up finishes two times… A two-time all-state, all-conference, and all-city selection, he also played in the Minnesota All-Star Game… He scored 1,000 points in 50 games there… Set the single season scoring record and ranks second all-time in scoring average.
